Much like real life, characters in Rune Factory 5 are keen on certain gifts, and not so keen on others. Gifting is considered essential to raising your friendship level (for more on that, check out our Rune Factory Friendship Guide), but if you end up giving them the wrong thing, you can also end up decreasing it. To save you the headache of finding out through trial and error, here’s our Rune Factory 5 Gift Guide, with every birthday and the best items to gift your favorite characters!
Gifting someone something on their birthday will give you extra friendship points.
Characters prefer handmade gifts over store bought gifts, so handmade gifts give an extra increase in friendship levels.
Every 5 handmade items that you gift to a single character, you’ll get a gift in return. Additionally, you can gift someone 5 handmade items in a day, but only get friendship points for the first one, and still get a gift in return.
Much later on in the game, you’ll get a chemistry recipe called a ‘love potion.’ This raises the friendship level of a single character by one whole level!
Usually, you can only give one item per day, but if you have one liked item of a character as well as a loved item, you can give both of them in one day and get a further increase in friendship level. In addition, you can also give a neutral gift (anything not in any of the four categories) for extra FP. Turnip seeds, for example, make a great neutral gift for every character, as they are disliked by no one and they’re also cheap and stackable.
